Get Valentines/GALentines Ready With Debenhams

When I’m in London and want to play in and explore a beauty hall (or, frolic around among makeup items) for me, Debenhams tops the list. Don’t get me wrong; I love the likes of Selfridges and House Of Frasier; but I just feel a bit overwhelmed and intimidated – whereas I have much more of an enjoyable experience Debenhams.

Earlier this week, my best pal Jodes and I were asked down to the Oxford Street store to have a proper girly day and experience everything the Debenhams beauty hall had to offer; we took this opportunity to get GALentines ready and has the best day! Or, for those with a significant other; Valentines ready! Makeup, hair, outfit, gifts – sorted!

There’s actually so much to do there; it’s not just a department store for a bit of shopping – you could literally spend the day at Debenhams! There are four places to eat (shall we save that for another post?!), browsing and shopping (obviously), an endless amount of beauty treatments, experts on hand, and a personal shopping suite – which may I remind you, is free! Plus, don’t even get me started on the homeware floor…

We began our day at the personal shopping area located on the 3rd floor – a beautiful set of suites with rails, inspiration walls, mirrors and magazines to take a break from browsing. The staff really make finding the perfect outfit for you their priority without fear of being judged – on hand to select different sizes, styles, zip you up, or zip you out! After browsing some of the amazing women’s brands I popped my favourite pieces on the rail and began trying them on; picking my final pieces:

A simple yet chic black crepe kimono dress from Star By Julien MacDonald, complimented by blush accessories; I adore this little bag and loved the classic heels – both by The Collection.

By then, it was time to get pampered. Don’t get me wrong; I love doing my makeup (and others, matter of fact!) but there’s something so lovely about having someone else do it whilst you sit back and relax! Or, like me, watch the makeup artist’s techniques and ask all the questions ever! I sat down in the chair at the Makeup Forever counter and looked into the lit up mirror ready for some application! I must mention I rather enjoyed watching Jodie getting hers done too – it was absolutely stunning! We both definitely felt super sparkly afterwards! Debenhams offer makeup services throughout the beauty hall – and I really enjoyed my experience and again; didn’t feel intimidated or overwhelmed, or judged by any of the makeup artists – something I think a lot of us fear! Emily, my makeup artist was so lovely and so helpful throughout the whole process – and after listed the products used and my shades so I know what to pick up! (and did one of those makeup faces – always wanted one! The dream!) I loved how she really listened to the looks I like, shades I like, what I’m not comfortable with and so on – there’s nothing worse than a makeup artist at a beauty counter recreating her look on you! I loved the outcome!

Once the makeup was complete; it was time to go and get our hair done (yep, inside Debenhams!) at Regis Hair and Beauty. I’d never actually had a ‘blow dry’ before so I was rather excited! Washing my hair is such a chore so to have someone else do it, and blow dry it out all bouncy was the best thing ever –  weekly blow dry’s anyone? My hair felt, smelt and looked amazing – I’m now on day three and it’s still super bouncy and soft – yay! I had such a good experience there and coming from someone who hasn’t walked into a hair salon in years (I’ve just always feared it – I always prefer home visits!) it was surprisingly wonderful! If you too are intimidated by the hairdressers; definitely make your way to the 3rd floor after a bit of shopping and head to the corner where you can find Regis!

I had such a lovely afternoon and really think its such a unique, affordable and luxurious experience! Somewhere to go and get pampered with your friends, family or solo! I definitely want to take my Mum for some Mothers day treats!

As you may have expected; Jodie and I had one last wander and shop around the beauty hall! I ended picking up the new (Debenhams exclusive fyi) Dolce & Gabanna Dolce Rosa perfume – a little Valentines gift for myself! There are so many amazing Valentines gifts available at Debenhams you can take a look in store or here.
